During my exam i am planning on doing physical photo manipulation to 3 selected photos. To do this i am looking at abstraction, embroidery. In order to highlight and make a focus point or emphasis on a certain part of the face. As well as looking into the distortion of those same facial features however on a different copy. Lastly the idea of how different parts of the face can be mechanically represented.
Idea 1 : Highlighting and emphasis ( physical )
My first idea involves little clusters of flowers embroidered onto the selected photos:
This is to show how beauty can be found anywhere and i am planning to use the flowers to highlight and emphasis one part of that beauty on the face. Also this is to show how when people look at you they are more likely to see the beauty you hold, when contrasted to how you may see yourself.
Idea 2: Distortion ( physical or computer )
Physical - In my second idea i am going to use cotton thread and pins in order to distort the face on the selected photos:
The idea of distorting the face is to show how some people when looking at themselves they may have a distorted view. This is to directly contrast the flowers and the beauty that others may see.
Computer - using poka dots by changing certain bit to black and white while keeping the other coloured like i did in work record 4 however increase the amount like shown by the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. The idea is the same as above.
Idea 3: Mechanical representation ( computer )
The last idea is to use clockwork in the different aspects of the face as they maybe seen if they where more robotic / mechanical.
This is to portray how some people come across as really logical and can get stuck doing the same repetitive thing almost as if they are made of cogs and springs.
